Who is John Hunt
John Hunt a proud bi-racial individual who spent most of his adolescent years growing up in government-subsidized housing. He knows what it is like to feel uncertain about the future, to live with a parent who is constantly worrying about bills, and to watch a parent work long hours and still wonder if it will be enough. Because of this, he also knows what a difference it makes when government steps up, when systems work the way they’re supposed to, and when communities rally around each other.
HIs experiences growing up shape and drive him. They also give him a unique perspective that is missing from too many decision-making tables in our city and our country.
John understands how policy decisions play out in real time for working families, for young people trying to find stability, and for communities that are often overlooked. He will bring those experiences with him to every room, every conversation, and every vote.
John Hunt is running to be your Ward 5 Councillor because he wants to ensure that the kind of help that made a difference in his life is not only available, but is stronger, for the next person who needs it. Whether it’s affordable housing, safer streets, or simply knowing someone in government sees you, he will be the person not only fighting with you, but fighting for you.
Representation matters. Lived experience matter. Local government can, and should, be a force for good for all, especially for the people who need it most.
